But, though all attorneys would love to represent only the innocent and honest, it just doesn't work that way. And some clients will spin a tale even the most skeptical would dare to refute. However, even when stories are true, and the details break your heart, beware the tendency to get too close. Clients are simply that - clients - not little lost puppies to take home. This is not to say you must have a complete hands-off policy. You can always refer clients in need to community resources. Just be careful, let the clients become too dependent on you.

Sumur Karuh

KADA karasan matan mangidam bigi salak samalam, parut bini Palui sudah parak bungkas alias mahadang harinya haja lagi.
"Napa ujar bidan Lui lalakiankah atawa babiniankah?" ujar Tuhirang wayah takumpulan di rumah Palui.
"Kahandak tu babinian pang, nyaman manggaduh aku amun tuha kaena," ujar Palui.
"Kanapa amun anak lalakian, kada manggaduhkah inya lawan kita mun tuha?" ujar Tulamak maanyaki.
"Lain jua mak ai, gaduhan anak babinian lawan lalakian," ujar garbus manjawabakan.
Rahatan asik buhannya bapanderan, tumatan dalam bini Palui bakuciak.
"Uiii abahnya, capati pang kiyau bidan, rasanya handak banar dah!" ujar nang bini takuringis.

"iya kah umanya, sabar umanyalah. Aku minta tulung Tulamak maambili bidan ka rumahnya," ujar Palui langsung manyuruh maambili bidan.
Lima belas menit datang tulamak mambawa bidan. Bidan langsung manuju kamar mamariksa bini palui.
"Pian kasini jua nah lui, umpat mahadapi, supaya bini pian kuat mahajannya," ujar bidan manyuruh Palui masuk. Kada lawas tadangar suara manangis kakanak halus, baarti anak Palui sudah kaluar.
"Alhamdullillah, anak ikam lahir sudah lui ai, babinian nah, sasuai kahandak ikam," ujar bidan langsung mamabarasihi ka bayi tadi.
"Alhamdullilah ikam selamat jua umanya ai," ujar Palui pina lapang hinak. Kada lawas kakanak tadi dibarasihi lalu bidan manyuruh palui bang gasan anaknya. Limbah tuntung Palui kaluar matan kamar.
"Salamat lui lah takabul hajat ikam, baanak babinian," ujar Tuhirang manyalami ka palui.
"Bahati-hati jua lui ai, pacang lapah manggaduh anak babinian," ujar Tulamak mamadahi.
"Kada papa, aku sudah siap lahir batin," ujar Palui. "Nang aku kada siap ni pacangan parai bagawi, sumur karuh dicaburi anak," ujar Palui taungut."Kanapa sumur ikam lui, kulihat banyu ikam barasih haja," ujar garbus kada paham.
"Ikam tu dasar kada tapi cerdas Bus ai. Kada tapi pamahaman panderan Palui matan tadi. Sumur karuh itu kada lain sumur umanya, limbah malahirakan anaknya nang halus ni. Palui cagar parai ampat puluh hari. Mangartilah ikam...?! ujar tulamak manumpalak Garbus. (bpost/fai)

Membarakat Karak

TIAP urang itu pasti ada kalabihan dan kakurangannya. Tapi kabanyakan urang pasti banyak kurangnya daripada labihnya. Makanya ada istilah kukurangan alias kada ganap. Disamping ada istilah kukurangan ada jua istilah balabihan alias sama-sama kada ganap jua. Baiknya kakurangan wan kalabihan itu saimbang.

"Kalabihan ikam itu Mak ai adalah kada lain awak ikam nang balabihan timbangannya, makanya tamasuk manusia kada nurmal," ujar Garbus mahapak Tulamak.

"Hidup itu nang panting sihat, lamak atawa kurus itu sudah pambawaan matan sananya," sahut Tulamak.

"Kalu kaya itu, cuba tangguh apakah kakurangan dan kalabihan kawal kita si Palui ini?" ujar Garbus sambil manunjuk Palui nang hanyar datang

Kalu kulihat muha wan tangan Palui hirang bacalumut harang, kalabihan Palui pastilah kaharatannya mangawah nasi," ujar Tulamak.

"Bujurkah Lui?" ujar Garbus.

"Sabujurnya kada kaharatanku mangawah nasi, tapi karna kadada nang lainnya maka akulah nang tapakai," ujar Palui.

"Tapi kulihat satiap ikam mangawah nasi di urang aruh bakakawinan atawa basalamatan maka kawahan ikam nasinya pasti hangit banyak karaknya," ujar Garbus.

"Mangawah nasi ini tamasuk cara mamasak urang bahari, karna harus ada tungku, harus ada kawahnya, ada pangayuhnya gasan maharu. Karna kawahnya wasi ganal dan kandal maka apinya harus nyarak. Karna api nyarak itulah maka banyak karaknya," ujar Palui.

"Ikam katuju nang bakarak atawa nang kada bakarak," ujar Tulamak manakuni Garbus.

"Aku katuju nang kada bakarak," ujar Garbus.

"Kalu aku sudah pasti katuju nang bakarak, makanya kuusahakan supaya karaknya kandal dan tabal supaya nasinya babau harum," ujar Palui lihum.

"Kalu nasi kawahan banyak karaknya maka pasti bakurang nasi putihnya," ujar Garbus.

"Sabujurnya banyak karaknya itu supaya kawa dibarakat dibawa bulik," ujar Palui.

"Ooo ... jadi karak itu gasan dibawa bulik, gasan dibarkatkah Lui?" ujar Tulamak ma-anyaki.

"Hiih, kubawa bulik, kubarakat lalu kujamur. Kawa dimakan tahan saminggu atawa satangah bulan," ujar Palui mangaku.

"Kaya apa caranya maka tahan samingguan?" ujar Garbus.

"Karak nang dijamur tadi jadi karing dan karas, bila handak dimakan dirandam ka banyu supaya lamah jadi nasi. Malaran bahimat kada manukar baras samingguan," ujar Palui tatawa.

"Dasar Palui banyak akalnya, satiap ada urang ba-aruhan pasti jadi pangawahan karna ada untingannya," ujar Tulamak paham kalabihan Palui. emhati(repro)
