How to Make Money from Your Website by Zach Hornsby

When it comes to wanting to earn some more cash I believe we are all guilty.

If you have checked out How to Increase Cash Flow from Advertisements, you should know some fundamentals to joining an affiliate program or getting paid to place advertisements on your site. There is a considerable amount of ways to earn money from your website.

In this article I'm going to touch on advertisements and affiliate programs.

Making Cash from Advertisements

If you look closely on about every website you will find advertisements of some kind, and even on this site you may see banner/text ads to some degree. If you are a beginner to website development you may be unaware that you don't have to be famous or have a huge company to enjoy some extra cash from some ads.

Basically, anyone with a website can find someone willing to pay for some of their web space. Quite a few factors will come into play when deciding how much money you make from them, I would suggest reading How to Increase Cash Flow from Advertisements for some tips on getting a higher amount of money for publishing ads.

With all that said, I'm going to list three of the most common programs that are used today when publishing for a advertiser.

• Pay Per Click (CPC)

CPC is based off how many times the banner or text ad you placed on your website is clicked by a visitor. The key to making money from this method is you need to have attractive advertisements in high traffic areas of your site. It becomes basically a requirement that your ads must reflect your target audience.

• Pay Per Impression (CPI)

If you choose to do a CPI you pay for the number of times the advertisers banner is displayed to a unique visitor. The amount is normally based on a thousand impressions (impressions are when a user loads the webpage with the ad on it). So that being said for example it would be $10 CPI would basically be $10 for ever thousand times the banner is display to a user of that webpage. This method is normally good for smaller sites since advertisers will eventually get all of the impressions they paid for. Nevertheless, if you get lucky this method could score you quite a bit of cash if your visitor based increased.

• Pay Per Sale or Lead (CPS & CPL)

This scheme will by far give you the highest payment rates, but the lowest conversion rate. The reason for this is because you will only get paid if the visitor clicks on the advertisement, goes to the website and purchases the service / product (CPS) or signs up for an account (CPL). The same basics apply for this scheme as with CPI that you must know your target audience in order to rank in some good cash.

Places to Find These Programs

You will find yourself overwhelmed with all the sites that offer programs like the ones above, and some of them more trustworthy then others. Below I will list a couple of my top affiliate / advertisement programs then I will offer to link to a list of more sites if you are interested in checking that out.

• Google Adsense - (CPC)

This program seems to be one of the biggest currently on the web right now. It's run by a very trusted company (Google), and overall the service is very nice. Adsense is a Pay Per Click (CPC) type of service. They offer a easy copy & paste code for your site and a normally will have ads that are based on that webpages content. It even providers a way to filter out your competitors' ads which we all know is something that is a great tool when keeping your audience.

• Buysellads.com - (CPI?)

Buysellads is a fairly new on the block, but I wanted to bring them up due to them offering a great service. Basically the advertiser will pay monthly to have his/her ads on your site. The site acts as a middle man (taking a 25% cut) connecting you as a publisher to people who are looking to buy webspace. It gives you a page which has information on it like site ranking, page popularity, bookmarks, and inbound links which is what advertiser what to know when deciding to choose you or not.

The BEST thing about this service is that it's all automated from accepting payments to putting ads live and then taking them down it's all done by them monthly. You just paste code in different parts of your site depending where you want the ads.

Those above are a couple of my personal favorites. If you have started a new site I would recommend that you go with Adsense since it basically has a easy approval process and you know 100% that you will have ads on your site at all times. Buysellads is for sites with higher visitor bases and more content.

Conclusion

Placing Advertisements on your site is one of the most effortless tasks you can do. If you provide your visitors with content or a service they enjoy they will always come back for more, which in turn will be money from your advertisers.

It's basically a simple way to make money 24/7 if you are already running a site. I would suggest that you take what you learned from this article and start today because every day you put off adding ads to your site is another dollar lost.
